A loss against Manchester United is never a funny story, but thinking of the performance by Hull City against the Red Devils with 3 goals at Old Trafford makes me smile a lot.

United had a great opening at the Theatre of dreams. Dimitar Berbatov took the ball outside the penalty area and passed Cristiano Ronaldo who shoot in-off the post after and scored the opening goal with only 3 minutes played.
Hull had a tough start likely the weekend before against Chelsea.

But the brave players from Hull proved United crew that they not gonna sell this game cheap. Hull started to attack immediately and cause trouble in United’s defensive line, mostly in the air.
Heading should be the goal recipe for Hull, free kick in the 23rd minute. Daniel Cousin showed the way for The Tigers by heading the ball into the net after winning the duel with Patrice Evra after a delicious cross-ball from Andy Dawson. Hull city had equalized at Old Trafford!

But the United crowd had only to wait 6 minutes for another leading goal. This time it was Michael Carrick who scored. He snapped up the ball at a counterattack, running at the left wing beside Paul McShane he placed a fine left-foot shoot through the post and back in the net.
United’s goalrush for the first half wasn’t over. Ronaldo jumped highest on a corner kick from Nani and headed in 3-1 a couple of minutes before half-time. Many thought that the game was over for the sensation team Hull.

Everyone found it clear that United had won the game when Vidic could put the ball into the net with a half-volley after a cross pass from Rooney 12 minutes past half-time.
Even if it is one of the hardest quests in Premier league, The Tigers wanted to prove Manchester United that the team spirit is on top and that they were still going for a victory at Old Trafford.
Phil Brown proved a pleasant side of his management and put in the Frenchmen Bernard Mendy into the game, a change which should turn the game to Hull’s advantage.
Mendy should score nearly direct, just after 10 minutes. He won a header versus Evra, run to the bouncing ball and raised it over Van der Sar, Vidic was near to clear the ball out but the goal was a fact. Hull had reduced the goal difference.
83 minutes had gone of the match and Mendy had chance to score, running beside Rio Ferdinand into the penalty area he get down tackled, a tackle who wasn’t proper according to Mike Dean’s decision, penalty to Hull City. Geovanni took the penalty and placed it safely in the left side of the goal. 4-3 and Hull were near a sensation result versus Manchester United.

But they didn’t came longer, 4-3 was the end result at Old Trafford. A sweaty game for all United supporters.
United had most of the play in the game. Berbatov was really good with his brilliant passes. Rooney hadn’t the best aim this day; he could have done at least 2 goals. Good mark to brave Hull city for their Determination, and good mark to United’s offence, and bad mark for United’s defence.
